Three weeks.

I went three weeks without riding a bike this month. That is probably my longest time off in four or five years.  The no riding gave me plenty of beer, Netflix, and hang out time. The timing was good, falling right along with Melissa's school break and some friends staying with us while they looked for a place to live.

I went to my ortho doc about my knee in early August. He checked me over, sent me for an MRI, and told me not to do anything active beyond walking for three weeks to sort out what was going on. Three weeks of rest was a tough one to wrap my head around but I followed orders.

The MRI didn't turn much up.

I went to go ride for about thirty minutes yesterday. Nothing great, just around the neighborhood in a light rain. No pain, totally fine! It felt good to be back outside on a bike. I might do a couple really easy rides to work this week.

I need to call the doc this week to follow up. After three weeks of rest, riding seems fine but I can tell something is wrong if I sit still too long or cross my legs.

After much fax debacle and waiting my new old man fitness hybrid came in. It's great. These bikes handle so well and have a solid parts pick for the price.
Hybrids and skulls - like pb and j
All it needs is a wireless Powertap, that will be a few months down the road. Mine is the 7.3 FX and is pretty basic with 9 speed Shimano stuff and v brakes. This is the first complete bike I have bought in about five years and it was nice to just adjust gears and go without any compatibility headaches.

Sometime next week I will do a couple reviews on some parts I have now been using long enough to have a good feel for how crappy or  not crappy they are.

  1. All that single speed riding might have something to do with the knees. Make strong like bear, but make week knees. Congrats on engagement!
